This is a complete pond kit for water up to 8,000 litres – filter, pump, hose and clips in one purchase – built around a filter that cleans its own sponges. A motorised cleaning system does the work that would otherwise mean gloves, buckets and a dismantled filter head, and the whole cycle is started with one turn of a dial. Like the manual PFC models, the unit stays continually pressurised by the pond pump, which is what underpins good water quality for healthy pond fishkeeping.

Turn the dial so that the blue arrow points in the direction of the dirty water outlet. The first ‘beep’ marks the start of the cleaning process and the second signals that the PFC unit and its sponges are clean. Nothing needs disassembling except when foams are being replaced or a full system clean is due.

Every automatic cleaning PFC filter carries a built-in UV light that helps prevent algae growth and eliminates micro-organisms in the pond water which can lead to fish diseases.

Filtration

Water passes through the PFC-8000 in the following order:

1. Pond water flows into the PFC-8000 via your pond pump
2. Initial filtration begins by removing large particles through a mixture of coarse and fine filter foams (mechanical filtration)
3. Then the water passes across bio balls that harbour good bacteria across large surface area (biological filtration)
4. Lastly, the exiting water is exposed to a 11w UV steriliser capable of reducing harmful bacteria and algae
5. Clean, clear and healthy water exits your PFC-8000 and returns to your pond.
