The bigger the pond, the heavier the filter foams and the less appealing the job of cleaning them by hand. At 25,000 litres that argument makes itself, which is why this PFC is automatic: the range of automatic PFC pressurised pond filters with built-in UV clarifiers are self-cleaning units operated by the simple turn of a dial. As with the manual PFC models, your pond pump keeps them continually pressurised, helping you maintain the best water quality for healthy pond fishkeeping.

The motorised sponge cleaning system does the work. Turn the dial so the blue arrow points in the direction of the dirty water outlet, listen for the ‘beep’ that starts the cleaning process, and at the second ‘beep’ your PFC pond filter unit and sponges are clean. As well as removing the manual labour, it means no part of the unit needs disassembling except when replacing foams or performing a full system clean.

Every automatic cleaning PFC pond filter is equipped with a built-in UV light, helping prevent algae growth and eliminating micro-organisms in the pond water which can lead to fish diseases.

Filtration

Water passes through the PFC-25000 in the following order:

1. Pond water flows into the PFC-25000 via your pond pump
2. Initial filtration begins by removing large particles through a mixture of coarse and fine filter foams (mechanical filtration)
3. Then the water passes across bio balls that harbour good bacteria across large surface area (biological filtration)
4. Lastly the exiting water is exposed to a 36w UV steriliser capable of reducing harmful bacteria and algae
5. Clean, clear and healthy water exits your PFC-25000 and returns to your pond.

The pump is designed to circulate water to a pond filter or waterfall, and its cage is specially designed to prevent clogging by providing the maximum surface area for drawing water in through the guard to the pump. An additional inlet is included with the AquaECO pump, allowing you to attach hose to the pump inlet and feed it directly from a source such as a pond skimmer.
