A slip lead is the simple, quick option for a dog that already walks nicely beside you: one loop over the head and you are out of the door, with no buckles to fasten. Setting the stop so the loop closes no tighter than a comfortable collar keeps the fit right and the pressure gentle. For a dog still learning not to lean into the lead, a harness spreads that pressure across the shoulders, so choose by how yours walks.
