Koi ponds run at ammonia and nitrite levels that would overwhelm an ordinary filter, so the PFC-50000 adds a stage the smaller models do not have: roughly 4 Litres of tumbling K2 media, constantly in motion, colonised by the bacteria that strip those compounds out of the water.

Around it sits the familiar pressurised arrangement. Our Pressurised Pond Filters with built-in UV Clarifiers are designed to be continuously pressurised by your pond pump, maintaining excellent water quality for healthy fishkeeping. Water is fed directly from the pump into the filter container and on to the outlet, under pressure throughout, which lets the outlet be positioned higher than the filter body - handy for disguising the unit around the pond and particularly useful if incorporating a waterfall.

A rotating cleaning handle on the head keeps the routine short: turn it and the interior sponge rinses clean, reducing the need to dis-assemble. The unit signals when a detailed clean is due with a small float that pops out of the head, and afterwards a separate outlet discharges the dirty water until it runs clean.

Each unit is supplied with a built-in UV Light, effectively preventing growth of algae and eliminating harmful micro-organisms and parasites which may cause fish diseases.

Filtration

Water passes through the PFC-50000 in the following order:

1. Pond water flows into the PFC-50000 via your pond pump
2. Initial filtration begins by removing large particles through a mixture of coarse and fine filter foams (mechanical filtration)
3. Water passes through tumbling K2 media reduces harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water with the help of good bacteria (biological filtration)
4. Then the water passes across bio balls that harbour good bacteria across large surface area (biological filtration)
5. Lastly the exiting water is exposed to a 55w UV steriliser capable of reducing harmful bacteria and algae
6. Clean, clear and healthy water exits your PFC-50000 and returns to your pond.
