AllPondSolutions 18w Pond & Aquarium UV Steriliser CUV-218

Two sterilisers of the same wattage can perform very differently depending on how long the water actually spends in front of the lamp. The AllPondSolutions CUV-218 uses a helix inside the case to lengthen that time: water is set spinning as it travels rather than running straight through, so it is exposed to the UV for longer before reaching the outlet. The result is a more even exposure and better efficiency from the same 18w bulb, which is why the Ultra Violet Clarifier remains a key element of a well filtered clear water system.

Plumbing is more flexible than usual too. Rather than a single pair of ports, the unit has three inlet / outlet's - useful if you want to feed a two-fall waterfall, or run a waterfall and a filter together. Three stepped hosetails are supplied to fit a variety of hose sizes, and a transparent centre panel lets you check that the UV is fully operational at all times. A separate glass viewport is also included, which can replace one of the hosetails if you would rather use the unit as a simple one-in / one-out.

Overheating is guarded against automatically. Advanced thermal protection shuts the unit down if it is at risk, and restarts it once it has cooled to normal temperature. Site it somewhere sensibly cool rather than in direct sunlight or a hot, humid, enclosed spot and it should never need to intervene.
