AllPondSolutions 11w Pond & Aquarium UV Steriliser CUV-211

Water that shoots straight down a UV tube spends barely any time in front of the lamp, and the portion travelling through the centre of the flow may never be properly exposed at all. The AllPondSolutions CUV-211 tackles that with a helix inside the case: instead of running straight through, water spins as it travels, staying in the ultraviolet field longer before it reaches the outlet.

That spin produces a more even exposure and, with it, better efficiency from the same bulb. As an Ultra Violet Clarifier it remains a key element of any well filtered clear water system.

Plumbing options are unusually flexible. Where most sterilisers give you one inlet and one outlet, this unit has three inlet / outlets, which is genuinely useful if you want to feed a two-fall waterfall, or a waterfall and a filter at the same time. Three stepped hosetails are supplied to suit a variety of hose sizes. A transparent centre panel lets you check that the UV is fully operational at any time, and a separate glass viewport is included that can replace one of the hosetails if you would rather run the unit as a straightforward one-in / one-out.

Advanced thermal protection shuts the unit down automatically if it is in danger of overheating, then restarts it once it has cooled back to normal temperature. To keep that from happening in the first place, site the unit somewhere sensibly cool rather than in direct sunlight or a hot, humid, enclosed space.
