Green water in a small aquarium is stubborn, because the algae causing it are too fine for foam to catch. Building a 5w UV steriliser into a hang-on filter deals with it as the water passes through, and the same unit provides mechanical and biological filtration for fresh or saltwater fish tanks of up to 115 litres.
Filter Operation
The internal pump lifts water out of the tank through the intake tube and passes it across the UV bulb for sterilisation. From there it travels through the remaining stages of filtration before returning over the waterfall-effect outlet.
Intake flow is adjustable from the filter body and from the surface skimmer independently, so surface film and mid-water debris can both be dealt with.
