Chemical filtration is the stage most internal filters leave out, which is why discoloured or odorous water persists even when the sponge is clean. This 450L/H Internal Aquarium filter includes an activated carbon tray inside the unit alongside its sponge, and suits fresh or salt water aquarium tanks up to 90 Litres.

Aeration can be handled two ways. An adjustable spray bar raises oxygen levels at the surface, or a venturi aeration nozzle can be fitted instead to create bubbles and oxygenate the returning water directly - in principle removing the need for an air pump. The two cannot be run together; choose one.
