AllPondSolutions 1000L/H + 9W UV Aquarium External Filter EF1+

Anyone who has knelt beside a cabinet coaxing a stubborn external filter into priming, or watched salt water quietly destroy a set of fittings, will recognise what the EF1+ was built to fix. Rated at 1000 L/H and carrying a 9W UV steriliser, it is the redeveloped successor to our earlier external fish tank filters from AllPondSolutions.

The changes are practical ones. Priming is easier and far more consistent than before, and the body has been re-engineered to be stronger and more durable. Marine keepers were a particular focus: the existing fittings were reworked specifically to survive longer in a salt water environment. Every filter now carries a full 2 years warranty as well.

The UV section has been reworked too. Its switch is easier to reach and the on/off indicator light is clearer. Rather than relying on a mechanical linkage, the UV safety mechanism is now triggered purely by magnet, removing that route to failure entirely.

Treatment itself is multi-stage. Tank water passes through several stacked internal baskets, each loaded with a different filter media material, so biological, mechanical and chemical filtration all take place in sequence and to a thorough standard.

Like all our externals, the unit does the same job as an internal powerhead filter but sits outside the tank. It draws water in via an inlet tube and returns it crystal clear via an outlet tube (both supplied). A spray-bar on the outlet helps increase oxygen aeration levels within the tank. Keeping the hardware out of the water frees up swimming space and leaves a huge internal capacity for media, which suits larger volume tanks.

Ceramic rings, bio balls, coarse and fine floss filter foam are all included. Run the tank on the supplied media and you will see a vastly improved level of waste-free water thanks to extremely strong biological purification, and because the layered baskets are easy to access you can customise your media choices around your aquarium and fish livestock needs.

Maintenance is straightforward. The drip-free shut-off tap lets you disconnect the filter and take it somewhere more suitable for cleaning than beside the tank. Each basket lifts smoothly out, rinses through and goes straight back into service.

Please note the pipework skimmer part included on the packaging is NOT included and might differ from the pipework provided with the filter. This does not affect the filter’s functionality.
