AllPondSolutions 1000L/H + 9W UV Aquarium External Filter 1000EF+

Green water and a tank interior cluttered with equipment are two problems most keepers would happily solve in one move. The 1000EF+ does both: it keeps the same compact footprint as the standard 1000EF, sits entirely outside the aquarium so nothing eats into your swimming space, and adds a built-in 9w UV to hold suspended algae in check.

Water leaves the tank through an inlet tube and returns through an outlet tube — both supplied — with a spray-bar fitted to the return to lift oxygen aeration levels at the surface. Because the body lives in the cabinet rather than in the water, there is room for a generous volume of media, which is what makes this unit a sensible match for larger water volumes.

Filtration runs across three (3) stacked media baskets. Each holds a different material, so water meets mechanical, biological and chemical stages in turn rather than all at once. Ceramic rings, bio balls, active carbon and fine filter foam are all supplied; the baskets lift straight out, so swapping in media better suited to your livestock takes moments and the biological purification stays extremely strong throughout.

The steriliser section holds passing water in front of a 9w UV bulb sealed inside a quartz glass sleeve. Flow past the lamp is deliberately unhurried, giving the ultraviolet light time to kill, sterilise or otherwise irreparably damage the majority of harmful micro-organisms carried through it. One (1) bulb is supplied and replacements are available in store.

Servicing is undramatic. Close the drip-free shut-off tap, lift the filter away and carry it to a sink rather than working over the aquarium. Rinse each basket through, drop it back into the unit and restart.
